Accessibility Statement
Lightning Lock & Key's accessibility conformance status (WCAG 2.1 AA), built-in features, toolbar, known limitations, and how to get assistance.
Our commitment
Statement updated: July 2, 2026. Lightning Lock & Key is committed to a website that people with disabilities can actually use. Everyone should be able to reach a locksmith easily — especially in a lockout. As a California business serving the public, we treat digital accessibility as an obligation, not an option.
Conformance status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. The site is partially conformant: most content fully meets WCAG 2.1 AA, while some third-party components (see Known limitations) may not. We review and improve continuously.
How this site is built for accessibility
- Semantic HTML, one main heading per page, logical heading order.
- “Skip to content” link, keyboard-navigable menus, forms and FAQ accordions, visible focus states.
- Alt text on meaningful images.
- WCAG AA color contrast across the dark design.
- Labeled forms with clear errors and no time limits.
- The interactive service-area map is keyboard operable (Enter/Space opens a job pin, Escape closes) with screen-reader labels; everything on the map also exists as regular links.
- Reduced-motion support honors your device setting.
- High-contrast, large-tap-target mobile design — because most lockout calls happen on a phone.
Accessibility toolbar
Every page includes an accessibility toolbar (bottom-left button) providing:
- Profiles for motor, visual, cognitive and senior needs.
- Text size, line height, letter and word spacing controls.
- Contrast modes, readable-font mode, link highlighting.
- Reading aids including a reading guide and page-structure navigation.
- Hide/restore at any time (footer link restores it).
Chat & alternative contact
Bolt, the site chat assistant, is optional — every path it offers is also available by phone or form. If any feature is hard to use, call (530) 308-6643 and a person will handle everything, including taking requests entirely by voice.
Compatibility
Built for current Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on desktop and mobile, and common screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, TalkBack). No mouse required.
Known limitations
- Third-party components — Cloudflare Turnstile, Google Tag Manager, and outbound platforms (Google, Yelp, Facebook) — are outside our full control; Turnstile runs in its most automatic mode.
- Some photographs are documentary job photos, described in alt text as specifically as possible.
- Found something else? Tell us — see Feedback.
Feedback & assistance
If you hit a barrier, or need information in an alternative format: [email protected] or (530) 308-6643. We aim to respond within 3–5 business days and will gladly assist through whatever channel works for you.
Assessment & ongoing work
Self-evaluation, automated tooling, and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks, supported by our accessibility partner ADA Web Pro (tools, monitoring, ongoing compliance support). Accessibility issues are treated as bugs, not enhancements.
