Definition
A keyway whose blanks aren't publicly sold — duplicates require authorization through a licensed dealer.
Why it matters
The genuine cure for uncontrolled key copies. If mystery duplicates keep you up at night, restricted keys are the fix, not another 'do not duplicate' stamp.
