An electronic lock controlled by codes, phone apps or home-automation platforms, usually motor-driven.
Why it matters
Transformative for rentals and second homes — when cold-rated, lithium-fed, and aligned so the motor isn't fighting the strike. The mountain failure mode is almost always batteries or alignment, not electronics.
