Is WD-40 OK for a sticky lock?
Short-term yes, long-term no — its carrier gums up and attracts grit. Cylinders want a dry lubricant like graphite or PTFE. We service the lock properly and leave it running smooth.
The deadbolt only throws when I lift the door. Fixable?
Very — that's strike misalignment from a swollen or settled door, one of our most common mountain repairs. Minutes to fix, and it saves the lock from early death.
When is repair the wrong call?
When the cylinder is worn out, the hardware is bargain-grade, or you want a security upgrade anyway. We'll quote both paths and tell you which we'd pick.
